We all start young. Every kid grows up. Yet God wants us all to be like them. Jesus says the greatest in the kingdom of heaven are like little children. “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3 Why do we need to become like them to enter into the kingdom?

Little children are real. They will believe you when you tell them any story. They would be the first ones that will listen and be convinced by what you say. If you look at it this way, they have a great amount of faith. They do not worry or stress out; they know that their parents have everything under control for them. Doesn’t God warn us not to worry, that He is our Father and we should trust Him with it all?

Little children have not acquired as much baggage of sin yet. They are not puffed up with knowledge, whatever they may know they will share it openly and can forget about it quickly. So this leads to forgiveness. They forgive and can forget. Us adults, we tend to forgive certain things but not all. It’s like we have a “severity of offense” checklist and we go by that list in order to forgive like Jesus did. That is not right. When God forgave us, He didn’t go by any checklist, He completely forgave us because without His forgiveness we wouldn’t have access to our eternal salvation.

Hopefully we can relate so much to little children, we may have similarities and differences but at the end we should come to this, humbling ourselves before God our Father and realizing that God has made each and every one of us, that we are His children. Let us live to please Him.

 “Truly, I say to you,
unless you turn and become like children,
you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
