“Jesus said to Him, “Go; your son lives.” The man believed the
word that Jesus spoke to him and started off.”
– John 4:50
As this man was on his way home, he could have had doubts and
questioned Jesus’s words. But instead, he trusted and believed, and
his faith was not in vain. For later, his slave meets him and tells him
that his son is living. He asks the slave what hour the fever left him,
and the slave testifies that yesterday at the seventh hour, the same
time Jesus spoke those words.
How many times in our live have we asked someone for help? And
how many times have we trusted those people to complete the
task, or get something done? When we ask, we should put our
confidence in them that they will come through, and instead of
worrying, trust in their word. Instead, many times we watch over,
question and worry. So, why ask in the first place?
We tend to do this with God too. We come to Him and prayer and
ask for help, but then if we don’t get results fast enough, we doubt.
Then we try to take matter in our hands, worrying and stressing.
When all we needed to do was sit back and have faith in His
abilities. We must remember: He makes all things work together for
OUR good (Romans 8:28). Next time you ask for His help, trust in
Him completely, have faith as that man did; believe that God is true
to His word. When you put a situation in His hands, don’t try and
take it out while He is still working. Instead, have patience in His
plan, and do not worry.
