P H I L I P P I A N S 4 : 1 2 – 1 3
I KNOW HOW TO GET ALONG WITH HUMBLE MEANS, AND I ALSO KNOW HOW TO LIVE IN PROSPERITY; IN ANY AND EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE I HAVE LEARNED THE SECRET OF BEING FILLED AND GOING HUNGRY, BOTH OF HAVING ABUDNANCE AND SUFFERING NEED. I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH HIM WHO STRENGTHENS ME.
Content and satisfied; they mean basically the same thing. These words are synonyms of each other, so how can one be not satisfied, but also content?
We have all asked the Lord many things in prayer, we’ve cried out to Him with our requests and needs, and by asking we expect some sort of answer. It says in the word of God, “ask and you will receive…”, and we know these words by heart. Many of us when we ask, expect these things right away. But, if we don’t receive right away we tend to give up, for we live in a lifetime where everything is given so swiftly. We drop off our dreams; we give up on our desires and hopes when things don’t work out right away. We can pray one time, and continue praying a week, and maybe even some of us get to a month, and then we start to loose patience, loose hope and loose any faith that this prayer will be answered.
So I remind us in those specific moments, to be content, yet not satisfied. To be thankful for what you have right now, in this moment, at this period of your life; yet not satisfied to stop asking, to continue praying fervently with hope and with renewed faith.
And no matter what happens, and however God answers, if we seek His will first, we will remain content no matter the circumstance.
