G A L A T I O N S 6 : 9

“LET US NOT BECOME WEARY IN DOING GOOD, FOR AT THE PROPER TIME WE WILL REAP A HARVEST IF WE DO NOT GIVE UP.”

Perhaps you’re involved in something at church, you’ve been consistently and diligently giving your time and effort into this ministry, but now that wave of fire that you first felt is gone, and you can’t seem to find the stamina to continue. So you want to quit, you need a way out of this repetitive state, you don’t see a point in continuing, you want to abandon ship. Because you no longer have the motivation you first had, you don’t have the same enthusiasm and it almost feels wrong to keep going, when you can’t muster the strength to care.

For, in the beginning, there was a vision and a purpose, but now that vision seems hazy and unreachable. When will the things I am doing impact the people around me, can no one see the effort I put into this, when will there be a change, a revival or am I working towards, nothing?
In those moments you dare to quit, you dare to let go and give the burden to someone else. You could even feel wrong to keep going, how can you, when you know you’re not putting your all into it?

If you are at that state, hovering over the idea of letting it all go and dropping it off, I urge you to go just a few steps further. If you see no reason to continue, take courage from Christ, who had no benefit to hang on that cross when even His closest betrayed Him. He had every opportunity to quit, but He didn’t. When the task seems mundane when the cycle seems repetitive and the mission trivial, continue. Christ knows the desert seems unending, all seems futile, and the end of this mission looks impossible, but He calls us to persevere. Our loyalty will be tested and our motivation stomped upon by the devil. For in our defeat the devil takes the victory. That finish line could be just steps away, and the prize a few punches ahead of you, but if you stop now you may never see it. So persevere to the very end, and you will reap the reward of your labor, continue to fight, and gain new strength to run.
