“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot;
I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm,
and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.”
Revelations 3:15-16

Say you have a cup of cold water. If you pour in boiling hot water into the
cold water, that cold water isn’t going to turn boiling. The cold water is going
to turn warm.

But I think many of us christians have this mentality, that even though we do
bad things and sin, if we go to church it will make us pure and holy again.
I’m that same way, we are trying to put boiling water into cold water thinking
it will make it boiling, but it in fact, turns warm.

But God says that He spits out warm water. He wants us to be fully devoted
to Him. God does not want us to be living double lives, one at church and the
other at home. If we act one way in the house of the Lord, and differently at
school, we are hypocrites. But when we sincerely want to serve God and live
for Him, He changes us from the inside out. Because our faith is not just a
religion, but a way of life. People should be able to see Jesus in us not only in
church, but also at home and school.

So knowing that the attendance of church does not save us or make us holy,
but only the blood of Jesus is able to make us clean, let us not live serving
two masters. But with the assurance of His forgiveness, live a life striving
towards looking like Christ and having Jesus shine through us everywhere we
may be.

“Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and
our bodies washed with pure water.”
Hebrews 10:22
