Where Does God Live?

Where Does God Live?

By: Liya Abramova

‘Where is God?’ we sometimes wonder, and God has an answer, “I dwell on a high and holy place, and also with the contrite and lowly of spirit in order to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.” God, who declares that He lives on high, in a holy place, chooses to also stay with those who are humble, and lowly of spirit. The Scriptures tell us of many times when God was merciful with those who humbled themselves. Manasseh, for example, was even restored to his position as king out of slavery after he humbled himself before God. Humbling oneself is a mandatory requirement to coming before God. King David’s psalms demonstrate a deep humility before God, and God calls him a man after His own heart. Do you want to find God today? Start by humbling your heart, He will surely not pass you by.

For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, “I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit in order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite. (Isaiah 57:15)

When the Going Gets Tough, Where Do You Go?

August 4th, 2015|

When the Going Gets Tough, Where Do You Go?

Difficulty can strike us at any moment in our lives. Whether it be the stress of school, hardship at work, or conflict in a personal relationship—we will look for and run to a place of comfort. It can be as simple as opening the fridge and having some “comfort food” while sitting down and watching something to tune out our difficulty. To escape harsh reality, we often run to worldly things instead of turning to God. King Hezekiah, when confronted with a death threat, humbled himself and went to the temple of God. Where do you go when you have a problem? Facebook, your friends, alcohol, drugs, a relationship, sports, work? God is the only one who has the ultimate answer and solution for our problems and difficulties. Seek Him.

“When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the LORD.”
(Isaiah 37:1)

Emergency Preparedness

Emergency Preparedness

There are three types of people when it comes to emergency preparedness. The first type is always overly prepared. They have stacks of food and clothes; they carry food kits in their cars and listen to the radio for the latest changes in the forecast. Often these people are ruled by fear—what will happen tomorrow?!

The second type is those who are prepared for the things to come.  These individuals wisely store up food and prepare to react appropriately when there is a need. They don’t panic, but rely on a trusted source to guide them in the time of trouble.

Lastly, there are people who ignore the signs and warnings. They are self-reliant. They believe that nothing will happen to them; and if things get really bad, they’ll be smart enough to find a way out. Most often it is this type of people who will choose to celebrate and party to show their confidence in tomorrow.

What type are you? How will you respond to God’s warnings of the last times? Will you wait until its is too late? Don’t rely on your own understanding; choose His plan for you!

Therefore in that day the Lord God of hosts called you to weeping, to wailing, To shaving the head and to wearing sackcloth. Instead, there is gaiety and gladness,
Killing of cattle and slaughtering of sheep, Eating of meat and drinking of wine: “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we may die.” (Isaiah
22:12-13 NASB)

Walking Blind Might Not Be That Bad

Walking Blind Might Not Be That Bad

There are people who wonder what it means to be “led by the Spirit.” Walking in the Spirit seems to be distant and foreign to them. But the Scripture clearly tells us that even Jesus, while He was on Earth, needed more wisdom and counsel than His own.

Have you been baptized in the Holy Spirit? Are you being filled with the Holy Spirit on a regular basis? What does “walking in the Spirit” look like in your life?

The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him,
The spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The spirit of counsel and strength,
The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

And He will delight in the fear of the Lord,
And He will not judge by what His eyes see,
Nor make a decision by what His ears hear;

(Isaiah 11:2-3)

If You Ever Run

If You Ever Run

When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

1 Kings 19:13

God has a way of finding people in the wilderness…when they run away from the crowd, the effort of the journey draining them, until their physical state matches the exhaustion of their spirit. He joins them in their self-imposed exile, in their feelings of loneliness. “What are you doing?” He asks, and calls them by name.

If you ever run, chasing solitude, because you have no strength or desire left to face fears or doubts, consider that perhaps that is not the worst place to be. Listen; perhaps there is a still small voice speaking to you. It belongs to One strong enough to hear your complaints, and wise enough to direct your steps.
