Will You Stand Up For God?

Will You Stand Up For God?

In a day where standing up for the truth is not popular, many Christians close their eyes and tiptoe around sensitive subjects trying to avoid confrontation. Our personal comfort often dictates our actions as we seek to travel the road of less resistance in our lives. Will you speak up and say you don’t agree with abortion, homosexuality, and sleeping around? Will you sacrifice music, movies, and popular shows that contain poison  in the name of God? Phinehas did what was right and not what was popular or enjoyable, and he was blessed because of it. What will you do?

“And behold, one of the people of Israel came and brought a Midianite woman to his family, in the sight of Moses and in the sight of the whole congregation of the people of Israel, while they were weeping at the entrance of the tent of meeting. When Phinehas the son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose and left the congregation and took a spear in his hand and went after the man of Israel into the chamber and pierced both of them, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly.” (Numbers 25:6-8 ESV)

The Best Medicine

The Best Medicine

The poison of sin is lethal. Some people underestimate the power of it, and they play around with this deadly monster. What at first seems like an invisible mark (just like the bite of a snake) becomes a burning fire that destroys from within. Our merciful God gave one and only medicine for sin- His very own Son, Jesus Christ. Those who look up with faith at the One on the cross will be healed immediately and saved eternally. What do you set your eyes on today?

So the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and you; intercede with the LORD, that He may remove the serpents from us.” And Moses interceded for the people. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a standard; and it shall come about, that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, he will live.” And Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on the standard; and it came about, that if a serpent bit any man, when he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived. (Numbers 21 :7-9 NASB)

God’s Cursing Test

March 3rd, 2015|

God’s Cursing Test

I remember from a distant childhood having a fear of getting cursed. Somehow my instincts told me that I should stay away from the “evil people” who may put a curse on me just because… well, because they were evil.

The passage below from our weekly reading describes an interesting “cursing water test” proposed by God to a jealous spouse. The “magic water” would definitely bring on the curse to a cheating wife; however, it would be absolutely harmless to those persons who remained faithful.
Have you been cheating anywhere in your life? Would you test negative or positive on the “cursing water test”?

27 If she has defiled herself by being unfaithful to her husband, the water that brings on the curse will cause bitter suffering. Her abdomen will swell and her womb will shrink, and her name will become a curse among her people. 28 But if she has not defiled herself and is pure, then she will be unharmed and will still be able to have children. (Numbers 5:27-28) NLT
