FOR PHYSICAL TRAINING IS OF SOME VALUE, BUT GODLINESS
HAS VALUE FOR ALL THINGS, HOLDING PROMISE FOR BOTH THE

PRESENT LIFE AND THE LIFE TO COME.

We can train up physically and accomplish much. Everyday we
can strive to strengthen and grow our muscles, make a strict
regime to achieve a certain body type; we train tirelessly until we
achieve our set goal, or look. We can study a subject for hours,
months, and even years until we know the material backwards
and front and are able to teach it to anyone. We can move
forward from one program to another, from an associate
degree, to a bachelor’s, to a master’s and even a doctorate and
become the most successful and educated in our career.
A commitment lives inside of us, and if we want something we
have the determination to achieve these set goals. We strive for
much in this physical life, yet all these things will pass away,
both flesh and any materialistic accomplishments.
Let us examine today, what have we have achieved spiritually?
Are we striving to better ourselves as Christians, as
ambassadors of Christ, or do we set aside the spiritual and
move forward in the physical. Here in Paul’s letters to Timothy,
He reminds us that putting work in the spiritual also proves to
be well, even in the physical. We must not forget to feed our
Spirit, to strengthen it in the word of God, otherwise we grow
weak and frail. While our Spirit wastes away we become
vulnerable to the Devil’s attacks. Let us not neglect our Spiritual
life, and strive to seek the Lord while He may be found.
