“…THOUGH YOUR SINS ARE SCARLET, THEY SHALL BE AS WHITE AS SNOW; THOUGH THEY ARE RED AS CRIMSON THEY SHALL BE LIKE WOOL.”

I had white bedding.

The trouble with white is, it’s very difficult to keep clean. I knew the consequences of it when I bought it, but it was so brilliant and beautiful I couldn’t resist, no other color would do. So I did everything in my power to keep it clean and stain-free to ensure it’s pure white color would stay. Recently, something spilled on my bed and stained the bed purple in one spot. I didn’t notice it right away so it soaked it through deeply. When I saw it, I was extremely upset and tried to get it out. I tried chemicals, soaking it in different things, stain removers, and bleach, but to no avail. Now there is a giant, pastel purple stain on my once beautiful white bedding. It is no longer pure and white, and will never be the same crisp clean color it was before, no matter how hard I try to get it out.

That’s the trouble with people too; we get stained though meant to be pure and we were destined to be holy. Some try harder than others, others care not at all for their reputation or the things that they do, but in the end, we get stained. Whether we’re covered in stains or there is even but a smidge, we are no longer pure white.

God knew we would fail, He knew that we would sin; He knew that we would get stained and tainted. He gave us free will and He also made a way out. He sent His only son down so that His blood could be the ultimate sacrifice to our sins, and cleanse away our deep stains. Though I may never get my bedding back to its former glory, I am transformed into God’s pure holiness through His sacrifice. Though I am stained and covered in a sea of sins, God gives me robes of righteousness and garments of pure white, white as snow.
