This one isn’t for all. It’s  for the worried, anxious, those who are a bit frightened. The strong and very courageous may skip.

There’s something to tell you. If you are worried or afraid, now, or will be in the future, remember, it ends; you don’t have to be anxious. In other words, don’t be afraid of fear itself.

You may have some legitimate things to worry about. Humans always have. Like what to eat, and what to wear, and where to work, and who to marry? And then what if? And what if not? And many more, too long to list. Those have been, and will be; on the bright side, it’s not a new condition you have. Many had all of those concerns, and have lived long to tell, it’s not the end.

You see, whenever there is reason for fear, there is also reason for hope. And since the first is torture, the second is the better choice.

What if the fear has already set in, and there seems to be no more room for any hope or optimism?

Christ speaks to that – “come you who are weary and heavy burdened” – He calls, and what is a heavier burden then that of fear and anxiety? “and I will give you rest” He promises.

When the fear or anxiety is too heavy for you, it’s just a sign that it’s not meant for you to carry. You don’t give a child packages they aren’t able to lift. But we are often more stubborn then children. We pull and tug, as if to say, it may be difficult for others, but I just haven’t tried enough yet. And so we keep on trying.

And Jesus calls- “can you make yourself taller?” sounds like something you’d say to child- just try, maybe you make yourself grow on command? “or extend your life by trying?” Instead, look at the flowers, look at the birds, and note the care God takes of them. You’re more then birds, Christ assures.

So maybe we should trust?

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
