“AND THAT IS WHAT SOME OF YOU WERE. BUT YOU WERE
WASHED, YOU WERE SANCTIFIED, YOU WERE JUSTIFIED IN
THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND BY THE SPIRIT
OF OUR GOD.” 1 CORINTHIANS 6:11

“IN A SELF-ASSURED WAY THAT EXPRESSES FAITH IN ONESELF OR
ONE’S ABILITIES OR QUALITIES.”

Here we have the secular definition for confidence. The
dictionary definition says to have faith in yourself, and in your
capabilities. But, from my own experience my capabilities have
turned out to have limits and my abilities have failed me. I can’t
depend on myself, for how many times have I messed up, how
many times more will I continue to make the same mistakes?
Observing my flesh I see its longevity is short-lived. My hands
will grow weak and my legs will tire. If I live my life depending on
oneself, I would be greatly disappointed. But, since I have
received new life in Christ, everything incomplete is made
complete, for in me now lives an everlasting spirit, for I was
baptized with an everlasting God. My deteriorating body has
been resurrected as a new creation into life. My flaws, every
mistake, every sin has been washed away with the Holy and
righteous blood of Christ; He lives in you. So walk confidently in
His abilities, have faith in a God who truly is capable. Though we
are not perfect men and women, we put on a compassionate
heart, the humility and kindness that Jesus lived. We have
confidence in JESUS; we can now walk boldly in the NAME OF
JESUS. This confidence will not fail you; this confidence is truly
TRUE and is something you can depend on.
