“NO TEMPTATION HAS OVERTAKEN YOU BUT SUCH AS IS COMMON TO MAN; AND GOD IS FAITHFUL, WHO WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO BE TEMPTED BEYOND WHAT YOU ARE ABLE, BUT WITH THE TEMPTATION WILL PRIVDE THE WAY OF ESCAPE ALSO, SO THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ENDURE IT.”
When we react in ways that are not considered perfectly godly, it’s
easier to sentence this offense on the person provoking us. You could
be having a conversation with someone and they push a particular
button that makes you want to explode, to scream and yell and lose
your emotions, especially if they’re doing it on purpose. It’s our natural
reaction to shoot back and argue, or fire up and yell, so the fault
remains theirs, right?
There are many things we can’t control, the weather, what will happen
tomorrow, other people’s decisions, what others say and so on. But,
we can control what we do; we can control how we react. When
someone is pushing you to break your patience, keep your peace. You
are the author of what comes out of your mouth, you are the wielder of
the emotions you’ll show, you are the one chargeable for what you do.
Our responses can produce discord, leading us to weaken
relationships and cause hostile environments or, we can advocate
peace. Whatever we respond with let our retaliation be in our control.
But how can we achieve this amount of peace and control, how can we
learn to be calm when the devil wants us to break harmony? When we
are sensitive to the Holy Spirit inside us. When we indulge the Holy
Spirits’ call, wisdom will fill us and the peace of God surround us. Let
us meditate on God’s Holy Word, for instructs us on how to act, and we
can readapt to how we react. Then, peace will be our natural response.
