P R O V E R B S 2 5 : 7

“FOR IT IS BETTER THAT IT BE SAID TO YOU, “COME UP HERE,” THAN FOR YOU TO BE PLACED LOWER IN THE PRESENCE OF THE PRINCE, WHOM YOUR EYES HAVE SEEN.”

Many times I have acted out too soon by trying to break out of place I was in. I did things on my own schedule because I was getting tired of waiting for God to answer me and tell me what to do. In the desert I’m stranded, desperate to get out of a place that seems lost and hopeless, not knowing God just wants me to wait.

I believe God tests us in these moments, in the waiting room.

There He can see if you will really choose to trust Him, and be patient or choose to go on our own.

For in the desert, Abraham became the first descendant of a nation; in the desert, Moses was being humbled to grow into the vessel that would deliver Israel out of Egypt. In a jail cell, Joseph may have been a prisoner, but he was awaiting to become second in command to Pharaoh. I thought I was stuck in a ceaseless confinement and I wanted to move. It seems like a dead end, so if God is not answering we run out. We want so badly to get out of this waiting period, but if we leave too soon, we miss out on God’s amazing plan.

God’s timing is perfect; He is never early or late, always just on time. So let us not act out in rashness, seeking to find life and goodness ourselves, but wait so that we may walk in God’s directed steps.
