P S A L M 1 2 7 : 1

UNLESS THE LORD BUILDS THE HOUSE, THEY LABOR IN VAIN WHO BUILD IT; UNLESS THE LORD GUARDS THE CITY, THE WATCHMEN KEEPS AWAKE IN VAIN.

What can we can we do to foresee a prosperous future? We invest in our lives, in jobs, in our dreams so that we live comfortably. I only remind us, that doing all these things without the Lord is pointless. We may build an empire, a strong tower cowering over everyone beneath us, but if the foundation is not set upon God, it will surely crumble, and great will be it’s fall. It’s not wrong to follow after dreams and go after good jobs, but if we forget God in the process, it is all in vain.

I can depend on myself and hope in my own abilities with all my strength, but I cannot foretell a sure future. If I plant a seed, put it into good soil, fertilize it, and do everything I can to ensure growth, I still cannot command that crop to grow and be fruitful. For it is God who commands the wind, who can tame rain, send the sun to shine its rays, and then command the seed to sprout.

Compared to the Almighty, my strength and capabilities are useless. But, with the blessing of God, even where there are limits, where there is no hope or future, God can make impossible, possible.

Why labor in vain and live life depending on our own abilities? Let us hope in God, and put our future into His faithfulness.
